Let's come up with some ideas!
1. We need a book! Please post your suggestions and then on Friday, June 24, we will take a vote. Of course, the book with the majority of votes wins...
2. Once the book has been chosen, we will begin discussing. Just post your thoughts, ideas and questions, and our discussion will begin.
3. We will select a new book on the 1st of each month.
4. Sound okay???
I would love to read: "Water for Elephants"!
ReplyDeleteWater for Elephants is a great idea! I would also like to read some from the past that I haven't read in awhile like some of Jane Austen's works! How about Jane Austen's Persuasion??
ReplyDeleteThose sounds like great beginning suggestions:) - Ashley
ReplyDeleteHow about Sarah's Key? I already own it. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of it, but sure! Why not :) We could just start at the top and start working our way through!
ReplyDeleteI see my comment last night didn't post for some reason! I vote for 'Room'
ReplyDeleteI'm headed to the bookstore!
ReplyDeleteSo far we have:
ReplyDelete2 votes for "Water for Elephants"
1 vote for "Persuasion"
2 votes for "Room"
2 votes for "Sarah's Key"
I was thinking we just do them all In that order? Or draw them out of a hat??
ReplyDeleteWhen I was at the bookstore I took a note on my phone to remind me of a book I saw that might be interesting - and found other notes I had taken on books that might be interesting! So I am adding them to the list! We don't have to read them all in order, but I am throwing them out here!
ReplyDeleteThe Apothecary's Daughter
What Alice Forgot
Also was thinking reading Alice in Wonderland would be interesting - ya know, what is it like to read the insane story??
Let's get started discussing "The Book Thief"!
ReplyDeleteDiscussion Question 1: Did you like this book? If so, why? If not, why? Where would you rate this book on a scale of 1-10--with 10 being the highest?
ReplyDeleteDiscussion Question 2: Discuss the symbolism of Death as the omniscient narrator of the novel. What are Death's feelings for each victim? Describe Death's attempt to resist Liesel. Death states, "I'm always finding humans at their best and worst. I see their ugly and their beauty, and I wonder how the same thing can be both." (p. 491) What is ugly and beautiful about Liesel, Rosa and Hans Hubermann, Max Vandenburg, Rudy Steiner, and Mrs. Hermann? Why is Death haunted by humans?
