Thoughts on Chapter 2???? Wow! Jacob's young life quickly is in upheaval! What did each of you think of his decision to abruptly leave his final? And...to just walk and walk and walk and hop on a train? What a life-changing moment? Have any of you had such a life-changing moment? Where just one quick, not even a thought out decision, led you down a completely different path???
I often see this in the books I read--where just one moment, one quick decision, changes a life forever. I guess this happens in each of our lives as well...sometimes just seems easier to "see" in a 'word window.'
I am not sure leaving his final was a decision - and I am not sure it was abrupt either...it took him 45 minutes into it to leave. I think he was grieving and had no idea how to deal with everything that had piled on his plate. When you're alone in the world you do crazy things! I have had several life changing moments i think...not like Jacob's though and I don't plan on having any like that! So stay out of the car for a while okay mom! lol. I think I can see the life changing moments/decisions looking back, but I doubt they were so clear when I was in that moment.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about the word window! Always easier to see when you are outside of the situation and not in the middle of it!
I'm with Sarah.. I think we've all had abrupt life changing moments.. some more obvious than others. I think, where Jacob was at that point in his life, why not run away, jump on the train and join the circus!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so speaking as the oldest member of The Virtual Literary Society, it is definitely okay to have abrupt life changing moments...but at some point in the near future, one must use some common sense...it seems that Jacob had a pretty bright future ahead of him...so "play" with the circus for a few days and then move on! :)

ReplyDeleteI think the animals need Jacob! They are treated like CRAP. He loves animals and wants to take care of them. Who needs money when you have a place to eat and sleep right? :) Not that its a fab place to sleep, but sounds like the food is good! Haha!
